According to the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges in Brasov, the Sfantu Gheorghe bypass is the biggest investment in Covasna County since the 1990s.
4 roundabouts have been built along the VO12F route:
• roundabout with DN12, km 0+000 (beginning of route);
• the roundabout with DJ103B at km 3+268;
• roundabout with DN13E at km 8+032;
• roundabout with DN12, km 11+556 (end of the route).
Three overpasses were also built. The largest of them, above the Olt and the Brasov-Deda railway line, is 526 meters long. Along the route, there are 2 S1-type service premises (each with 25 parking spaces for cars, 16 parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles, and a building with sanitary facilities), as well as a coordination center for road maintenance interventions, including snow removal.
The belt has a total length of 11.56 km and one lane in each direction. It is financed with European funds and is worth 289.4 million lei (without VAT).
The investment’s purpose is to ease traffic in the city of Sfantu Gheorghe and reduce the number of accidents by absorbing a significant part of the transit traffic, reducing polluting emissions, and creating travel comfort.
