The project “Rehabilitation and modernization of the regional transport infrastructure on the route Vârlezi – Tg. Peony – Umbrărești – Viile – Fârțănești – Foltești (DJ 242)” is financed under the Regional Operational Program 2014 – 2020, Priority axis 6 – Improvement of road infrastructure of regional importance, Investment priority 6.1. – Stimulating regional mobility by connecting secondary and tertiary nodes to the TEN-T infrastructure, including multimodal nodes.
The project aims to increase the degree of accessibility of the city of Târgu Bujor and the municipalities of Vârlezi, Măstăcani, Fârțănești, and Foltești, located near the TEN-T networks – European road E 581 and European road E 87 by modernizing the DJ 242 district road.
The duration of the project is 75 months. It was implemented in the period 26.02.2015 – 02.05.2021.
As part of the project, 30.7 km of the county road were rehabilitated and modernized, dams, bridges, bicycle lanes, and public transport stops were built and environmental protection measures were introduced.
The rehabilitation and modernization of the DJ 242 district road meet the needs of the local community and in the long term at the level of the Southeast region of Romania to develop transport infrastructure. Through the implementation of the project, the DJ 242 district road has been completely modernized, and road traffic relief and increased travel comfort have been achieved.
