From the date it was established, Hydrostroy JSC has focused its activity on setting up specific large-scale projects of public significance – wastewater treatment plants on the northern Black Sea coast, dams, water pipelines, and sewage collectors.
At the same time, the company’s activity is intrinsically linked to the construction and maintenance of road sites throughout the country and abroad. Public and residential buildings constructed by the company comply with the smart city philosophy. They combine creative concepts, comfort, ecological and accessible environment.

The company has existed since September 1962. It was founded by the General Directorate of Water Management at the Council of Ministers under the name Vodstroy–Varna. In 1970, it was renamed to SU Water Construction, only to get its current name (Hydrostroy) four years later.
Reforms in the Bulgarian economy during the 90s, mass privatization, the development of private ownership, and entrepreneurship all have led to changes in the company’s capital structure and management.
In 2007, Hydrostroy JSC celebrated its 45th anniversary. The occasion was marked by the official opening of the company’s new administrative building in Varna. At the event, Hydrostroy JSC was awarded another performance label – a plaque from the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and an honorary diploma from the District Governor of Varna for outstanding contributions to the economic development of the city.
Hydrostroy JSC opened representative offices in Sofia and Burgas. The expansion of its activity is the result of many projects implemented throughout the country and abroad. The company creates new specialized jobs and establishes its position as a socially responsible employer.
The company acquired Vodstroy 98 JSC – the newest member of the company’s corporate family. Among the significant projects realized in 2016 is the reconstruction and overhaul of the Congress Hall of the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, awarded first prize in the competition “Building of the Year”.
Hydrostroy JSC moved its corporate office in Varna to the reconstructed and renovated MALL VARNA. In addition to the well-designed volumes, the high standard is also achieved with quality modern materials used to build the mall. Moreover, the year also marks the beginning of the largest project in the last decade in Varna - the renovation of Vasil Levski Blvd.
Hydrostroy JSC started several projects, related to the transport infrastructure, including technical design and Construction (Engineering) for Project: Hemus Highway and the reconstruction of Saborni Blvd. – Varna. The company completed projects: Design and Construction of Labyrinth Residential Complex – Varna and Reconstruction of RIU Astoria Hotel – Golden Sands Resort.
Hydrostroy JSC completed the construction of the Hemus Motorway six months ahead of schedule. The company completed one of the most significant projects in the transport infrastructure of Varna – The construction of Vasil Levski Blvd.
Hydrostroy JSC completed many transport and infrastructure projects, including Bypass Road of Gabrovo – part of the Trans-European Transport Corridor, WWTP reconstruction – Golden Sands Resort, WWTP Construction of Vidin, construction of a multifunctional sports complex in Varna and rehabilitation on the main road Kranevo – Burgas.
In 2021, many significant projects were completed, including the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the road and street network, road facilities, parks, and elements of the technical infrastructure in the municipality of Dobrich; reconstruction of a roundabout in Saints Constantine and Helena Resort, reconstruction of a street in the area of the Fisherman's port in the district of Asparuhovo, city of Varna. Another project was the construction of a road car ramp on Hemus highway, with boarding from "Atanas Moskov" boulevard in the city of Varna.
"Hidrostroy" JSC started work on the largest fishing port in Bulgaria. The project includes the strengthening of a landslide, shore fortification, reconstruction, and modernization of the Chaika fishing port in the municipality of Byala. In the same year, the company also became the contractor for the TEATRALNA PARK RESIDENCE - the first closed complex in the Oborishte district of the capital.
