The bypass road of the city of Burgas is a connection between AM “Trakia” (part of the Orient/Eastern Mediterranean Corridor) and respectively road I-6 – part of the main TETM and road I-9 Burgas – Varna – part of the wide-ranging Trans-European transport network. The project’s main goal is to optimize the existing infrastructure to reach European quality and safety standards following EU policy.

With the implementation of the project, the following goals were achieved: easing the traffic on the Northern Black Sea coast and solving the main problems of the urban environment; reduction of bottlenecks on the road infrastructure, created as a result of increased traffic from AM “Trakia” and expanding the capacity of the section; transit traffic to the Northern Black Sea coast.

The project is co-financed by the Operational Program “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014-2020, priority axis #2 “Development of road infrastructure along the “main” and “extended” Trans-European transport network”. The total cost of the project is BGN 88,401,451.13, and the eligible costs under the Program are BGN 88,127,299.51. 85% of the grant for the project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund, and 15 % is the national co-financing, which amounts to BGN 13,219,094.93.
