The regional waste dump “Bratovo – West” is a municipal property and is a complex facility, a set of various waste treatment installations, serving the population of nine municipalities. With its construction, the necessary infrastructure for environmentally friendly treatment of the entire amount of non-hazardous waste generated on the territory of the municipalities of the Waste Management Region – Burgas, including the municipalities of Kameno, Burgas, Aytos, Karnobat, Nessebar, Pomorie, Rouen, Sredets and Sungurlare, has been provided.
As a waste management center, the regional landfill includes several facilities, such as a plant for composting biodegradable waste according to the Comprehensive Permit, a local leachate and wastewater treatment plant, recycling of construction and bulky waste, a facility for material recovery, and a warehouse for temporary storage of hazardous and specific household waste. Additionally, a collector system and installation for biogas utilization have been designed.
The object is part of the project “Building a Regional Waste Management System in the Burgas region”, financed under the Operational Program “Environment 2007-2013”.
